Freedom isn't free

Last night I tried to check wikipedia for an article but it was blacked out, due to reaction to that SOPA thing. I was familiar that the US is trying to pass a cencorship bill, that is aimed to bring down piracy..., and also knew that some sites threatened that they stop working for a day just as a warning. The thing is that I thought that most of the major websites were against it, including facebook, youtube and twitter, but instead they did nothing. Or so it seems like.

Truth is that they can do whatever they want whether we like it or not, this bill will just give them the right to. You know, I don't feel comfortable that they own and abuse technology that way. I don't like the fact that if I have an adroid phone they can know everything that I do, and everyone seem like they don't mind or don't care.

The sad fact is that in this internet kingdom, we are but the commoners, and the noble ones will do a business arrangement, adapt to the new system, and drag us with them.

Don't let them.

Only dead fish swim with the flow.

  1. Well You Tube is a part of Google and they was in on the blackout, not by disabling their site but providing links to info and other stuff to help out.

  2. î've seen a lot of sites protesting against SOPA but I see nothing on the news. Amazing how the gouverment has the media under control so the internet HAS TO BE censorfree

  3. Looks like the blackouts were fairly effective, though.

  4. The blackouts did seem to generate news, so they must have been a success.

  5. just another reason to have a backup plan for when we're eventually over oppressed, it's hard to do but completely worth it to establish your own kind of ISP with access to a major backbone but on a system that doesn't abide by the normal rules
For example I've made my own phone OS that connects to various networks for service, it's a pain to track and even harder to tap

  6. The blackouts may have been successful, but as the Megaupload showed, they still have the power either way. We got the last laugh, at least tonight, though! Following for interest!

  10. It's funny, because I thought the same thing. Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have the most power, yet did not choose to do anything to raise awareness or send a message. It disappointed me, to say the least.
